Victor (from The Drum Pad) stopped by Jimmy Chamberlin's [presumably home] studio to deliver and set up some new DW drums for a photo shoot and interview with Drumhead Magazine...

  1. Cool. Interesting that he still prefers the toms mounted on the bass drum...guess he's used to it, & less cymbal stands to deal with.

I'm curious how his recent interest in double bass will co-exist with his trademark metronomic left foot on the hihat.

  2. Well, I hate to say it, but I knew it'd be back. The 14" available from DW at the time of the Echo show wasn't suitable for JC's liking. It was an issue of mounting and depth. The 8" was a stand in, apparently.

  3. Oh, and Drev, check out those K hats he's playing! Does Zildjian make 15" K customs? They must...

  6. oxymoron: suspended floor toms. And on JC's left, his left-most cymbal - is that some kind of a stack? It looks like two cymbals in one mount.

I saw that stack. Also looks like it has holes cut out of it (top hole appears dark, light shining through on bottom cymbal). Guess he's toying with a special effects cymbal in lieu of a china on that side.

Didn't the black Yamaha kit on the Everlasting Gaze video have suspended floor toms?

  8. i believe that stack is a a custom efx on top of another china, he had it setup that way on the third leg of zeitgeist tour.
