Chamberlins [rather large & loud] - Zwan Kit...

A you know, Jimmy recently talked about getting his Yamaha Maple Custom Absolute drums, back from the shop and setting them up in his basement studio.  Well here's a couple of pics which just now popped up @ the Drum Pads' (where Chamberlin held his clinic in 09) Facebook page:

There's one two shots of (a couple) of Jimmy's Silver Sparkle Yamaha Maple Custom Absolute Nouveau also:

  1. Beautiful! Very happy that I got to see him play both these kits, more than once. Very cool pics.

Although, on the jaguar kit...WTF? I know there are often extras with pro's drumsets that may or may not all be utilized. But 3 kicks? Some of this stuff had to be just for backup. I saw several shows from that Zwan tour, & that kit was not nearly that monstrous. Wow.

  2. Yeah, it's like the one from 'last tour' 2000. That has like 4 bass drums as well. In fact I think from then on in (if not before), he always got a couple of different kicks for each kit. http://themachinesomehow.blogspot.com/2010/05/chamberlins-zeitgeist-kit-sold.html

  3. Ha--yeah--must be nice, right? Also, looking closer...some of those toms (in the jaguar kit) have the sawed-off/rimless bottoms/timbale, or gong-drum style bottom (not sure what the right term is)...I have a promo pic from that tour with a view of the "driver's seat" of that kit--on the left there's a maybe 8" tom with no bottom head mounted near the hi-hat...

  6. Oh man, the JC head!!! I wish he'd bring that back. I made my own "JC" head, tried to model it exactly on JC's, including using the same font used for Yamaha.

I can't believe how many drums he ordered from Yamaha in that one finish, incredible. What's also incredible is that he ordered concert toms as well, what a guy. He doesn't like to do things half assed. I wonder what his DW haul will look like...

  7. I told you, Drev, that the jaguar is a big ol' kit with lots of bass drums.
